Yanyan's fever sparks immediate concern from her mother-in-law, who urges Jun'an to take her to the hospital. Amidst the worry, the ailing mother presses the young couple to have a child, hoping for a grandchild before her own health fails. Jun'an, however, remains deeply suspicious of Yanyan. He accuses her of manipulating his parents and dismisses her illness as a ploy to trap him with a baby. His cold distrust leaves Yanyan isolated in her genuine suffering.
