Yue confronts the Crown Prince with a stark choice, demanding he tell Minister Lin to stop playing both sides and pick a master. She warns that while she holds power, the Minister will sing a sweet tune, but her fall would make him the next victim like the slain Ming Feng. The Prince then refuses to reveal the Second Prince's identity to Yue, fearing her thirst for vengeance against her family's massacre would lead her to ally with his rival instead. His drunken attempt to invoke their three-year bond is met with Yue's cold, purposeful denial.
